Joy and Reign

Basque in the joyful experience of unfettered freedom described through Black verse, rhythm and sound. After the fight and toil, these selections commence on the new breath of morning and beckon us to revel in the selfless, boundless and timeless essence of our freedom – love. They generously pour out acceptance, nourishment, harmony and reverence. They are life bathed in sunlight, dripping with sweetness and nestled in peace. They rightfully crown us with joy born of freedom.

Movement THREE

Hustle And Glow

Look beyond the pain and sadness of racial injustice to see the resolve of a people destined to reclaim and boldly proclaim the value and beauty of their culture, their bodies and their souls, without apology. These songs, delivered with Black fabulousness and sometimes braggadocious flair, commit to press forward in spite of rampant injustice. They are in-your-face proud, full-bodied, and unapologetically Black. They lead the charge and tell us that now is the time to reach for victory.

Movement TWO

Still Of The Fight

Immerse yourself into the deep sadness and quiet surrender that comes after the exhaustive fight. These selections movingly embrace the fullness of grief interspersed with flickers of fleeting hope. They wail in anguish, crying for help they believe will not come. Under pressure, they collapse to the floor in the waning hours of the night, throw up hands in surrender, only to be grabbed by faith that rescues them. For it is in the still of the fight, that hope is reborn and encouragement begins to flourish.

Hate We Live

Explore the infuriating reality of injustice, anti-Blackness and systemic oppression. These selections point the finger at racism, loudly call it out, boldly judge it and unapologetically condemn it. It is the expression of explosive anger that gives way to smoldering rage. It is the hate we live.
